Sanhe Power has recently won, as the EPC general contractor, a wind-solar-storage-gas microgrid project for a production plant of a major state-owned energy company. This project marks Sanhe Power's first complete oilfield microgrid EPC project, representing a substantial breakthrough in the company's strategic positioning of providing "high-power-quality microgrid system solutions" for the petrochemical industry, and is of great significance for expanding the green power supply market in oilfields.
The project is located in a remote oilfield in northwestern China, deep within a desert region. The area is extremely remote, making the construction of external power grids prohibitively expensive and technically difficult. In the past, all production and living electricity at the oilfield relied on diesel or gas generators – not only costly and energy-intensive, but also generating significant carbon emissions.
The region benefits from abundant sunlight and stable wind resources – a natural endowment that creates favorable conditions for new energy power supply. However, converting "wind and solar" into stable power usable by the oilfield requires systematic engineering capabilities.
The project adopts a "self-consumption, off-grid operation" architecture, integrating four energy sources – wind, solar, storage, and gas – to form a multi-energy complementary, safe, and stable intelligent power supply model:
Energy Type |
Design Parameters |
PV Generation |
181 kWp |
Wind Generation |
30 kW |
Energy Storage |
150 kW / 645 kWh |
Gas Generation |
500 kW (re-purposing existing generators) |
PV and wind serve as the primary power sources, the energy storage system stabilizes voltage and regulates load, while the existing gas generators provide backup support. As the EPC general contractor, Sanhe Power is responsible for full-chain delivery including detailed design, equipment procurement, construction, and commissioning.
As a specialized enterprise with over 20 years of deep expertise in power electronics, Sanhe Power has long been committed to providing power quality and microgrid solutions for the petrochemical industry. This oilfield microgrid project represents a critical validation of this strategic positioning:
✅ Full EPC chain capability: End-to-end delivery from design and procurement to construction and commissioning
✅ Extreme environment adaptability: Validating equipment and engineering reliability in the heart of a desert region
✅ Deep understanding of oil & gas scenarios: Accurately grasping the special requirements and operational logic of off-grid power supply for oilfields
The main construction of the project has now been completed, and the system is undergoing final commissioning, with official operation imminent. Once operational, the system will enable local consumption of clean energy, effectively reducing electricity costs, cutting carbon emissions, and optimizing the utilization of natural gas resources.
The successful implementation of this project validates Sanhe Power's comprehensive capabilities in off-grid microgrids, multi-energy complementary systems, and extreme-environment project delivery. This solution offers clear value for replication:
Application scenarios: Remote oilfields, mines, border outposts, islands, and other areas without grid access
Model reusability: The wind-solar-storage-gas multi-energy complementary architecture can be flexibly adapted to different scenarios' energy needs
Industry value: Providing a replicable energy solution for the green and low-carbon transformation of the petrochemical industry
Sanhe Power will use this project as a starting point to continue deepening its presence in the petrochemical microgrid market, contributing technical strength to the energy transition of more oilfields and mining operations.
